Program Description:

Faculty-Led Travel Study Italy and Greece: Global Influence of Sport & Recreation


Location: Italy and Greece
Duration: Summer 2016 UW-W  May 15th-Jun 3rd (tentative travel)
Requirements:  Consent of the instructor, minimum 2.5 GPA, at least second semester freshman status, and good disciplinary standing, (Non-UW-W students are welcome but would need to apply to the university as a special no credentials student prior to applying on the program)

Students will develop an enhanced understanding and appreciation for international sport and recreation. Students will be introduced to and apply concepts of international sport marketing, branding, sponsorship, fundraising, and grass roots program development via an international experience in Greece and Turkey. This course seeks to broaden students' perspectives with respect to the global influence of sport and recreation on culture. The course is designed to complement the classroom learning of students in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching (HPERC) as well as students with interest in this content area (sport and recreation).

*The estimated program fee is based on 15 paying participants. The exact program fee will be established mid-term when all participants have obtained legal travel documents and the student roster is finalized.
