Program Description:
Faculty-led Iceland: Geology and Physics

Program Description: Iceland is uniquely situated astride a divergent plate boundary and on top of a hot spot with the Arctic Circle. The unique position of Iceland makes it perfect as a natural science lab. This course will explore the various natural and geologic features of Iceland, such as volcanism, Aurora Borealis, glaciers, geysers, etc., and study the physics behind them. Undergraduate research will be a major component of the course. Students will be expected to present their research on campus during Fall Undergraduate Research Day following the Iceland experience.

Requirements and Prerequisites  2.5 GPA, consent of instructor, good disciplinary record, undergraduate status.

Course Selection GEOLGY 491 or PHYSICS 491 - 4 credits total
