Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM) is an internationally-renowned private, non-profit university with 31 campuses across Mexico. ITESM enrolls over 80,000 student across its campuses, 4,700 of whom are international students from more than 70 countries around the world. Currently, UW-Whitewater approves students to study at either ITESM's Mexico City Campus or its Queretaro Campus, due to these campuses' well-developed support systems for international students and the safety and security of these regions in Mexico. Mexico City Campus
Mexico City is the capital and most populous city in Mexico, with 8.8 million people living in the city and a total of 21 million in the greater metropolitan area, making it the largest metropolitan area of the Western hemisphere. The city was originally built on an island of Lake Texcoco by the Aztecs in 1325 as Tenochtitlan, and was destroyed and rebuilt in the 16th century as a colonial capital in the Spanish conquest. The ITESM Mexico City campus offers a variety of courses in English, Spanish language courses, and excellent campus facilities and activities.
Querétaro Campus
The ITESM Querétaro campus has a student enrollment of 6,000, and 400 international students study there each year. 30% of its courses are taught in English, and they also offer all levels of Spanish language courses, as well as credit-bearing internship courses.
Querétaro is a modern and vibrant city of 800,000 located in central Mexico, about 2 hours north of Mexico City. The historic city center has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Querétaro has repeatedly been recognized as the metro area with the best quality of life and as the safest city in Mexico.
Academics
Students spending a semester at ITESM will take a course load of 12-18 US semester credits, which can be made up of classes in English, classes in Spanish (for students with advanced Spanish proficiency), Spanish language courses (all levels available), and credit-bearing internship classes.
Most courses are worth 8 Mexican credits, which is equivalent to 3 US credits. Spanish courses at ITESM are 16 Mexican credits (6 US credits). Students must take at least 32 Mexican credits (12 US credits) per semester and may take up to 48 Mexican credits (18 US credits).

Accommodation
Students studying on exchange at ITESM can choose to live with a homestay family (arranged by ITESM) or in an apartment off campus. Homestay families provide students with 3 meals a day and are a great option for students interested in immersing themselves in Mexican culture and daily life. Students choosing to live in an apartment off campus are responsible for making their own housing arrangements, but ITESM can provide students a list of housing options for students to look into. Cost of Attendance, Financial Aid, and Scholarships
Exchange programs are affordable study abroad options that allow students to pay UW-W tuition while studying abroad. As with all approved study abroad programs, UW-W financial aid can be used on this program. Eligible students are encouraged to apply for the Wisconsin Grant for Study Abroad, and UW-W and external study abroad scholarships are available.
UW-W tuition, as well as the Global Experiences Application Fee and CISI international insurance, are billed to the student’s UW-W account. Other expenses are paid separately by the student..

Passport and Visa Requirements
Students must have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the program date. Depending on the length of the program and the student’s country of citizenship, a Mexican student visa may also be required.
