Italy: A History of Art

Requirements Consent of instructor, minimum of 2.5 GPA, at least second semester freshman status, and good disciplinary standing.

The Program

This course focuses on the visual arts in Italy from the ancient Roman Republic through the Baroque period. In particular, we will consider the influence of ancient Roman works of art and architecture on later constructions in the visual arts, in terms of style, expression of power and heritage and proof of scholarly erudition.
