San José, Costa Rica
Spend a summer in the mellow and breathtaking city of San José, Costa Rica with AIFS! Study a variety of academic program options and earn up to 10 credits at Veritas University, one of the most highly regarded private universities in Latin America. The university’s urban campus is just a short drive from lush rainforests, volcanos, endearing sloths and stunning coastlines.

Courses are taught in English and Spanish with no previous Spanish language study required.

Program options include Spanish Language and Latin American Culture Program, Spanish for Health Care Professionals and Health Care Electives Program and Spanish Language, Liberal Arts and Environmental Sciences Program.

Live in a homestay within walking distance of campus where you will have your own bedroom. Your host family will provide a weekly laundry wash and will also provide you with breakfast and dinner daily.

Cultural and social activities will include:
  • Walking tours of San José
  • Costa Rican cooking classes
  • Visits to local museums and historical sites
  • Dance lessons
  • 3-day trip to Manuel Antonio National Park, where you will explore some of the most beautiful beaches on the Central Pacific coast
An optional, 2-day excursion to the great Arenal Volcano and hot springs spa is also available.
