UWW Faculty-led: UK/Ireland Castles, Royalty and the Luck of the Irish - Honors

This course is intended as a lively and informative introduction to the culture, history and communication practices of Scotland, England and Ireland along with their relationship with each other, the E.U. and the U.S There is extensive classroom work where we discuss the information above as well as pertinent information related to the travel component of the course. At the end of the semester we will be prepared for the travel component from May 14 to June 5 to cultural and historical sites and cities in Scotland, England and Ireland.

¨ Explain the terms culture, ethnocentrism, and cultural relativism in order to set the foundation for articulating insights into both one’s own cultural norms and some of those of our host countries. 
¨ Demonstrate personal growth by extending classroom learning to their travel study experience.
¨ Communicate appropriately and effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
¨ Demonstrate an understanding of important topics or issues, such as Brexit and the Royal family, within the U.K., as well as our individual host countries.

Eligibility Honors students, 3.4 GPA, Clean disciplinary record, at least second semester freshman status,  Consent of instructor
Language English with cross cultural communication
