Program Description:

INTRAUNV 491 Italy Slow Food & Culture

This course prepares students for travel to Italy by comparing dietary patterns, food systems, and culinary traditions in Italy and the United States. Students will explore differences between the Mediterranean dietary pattern and the Standard American Diet, with Attention to ingredient quality, food processing, and agriculture! practices, and meal structure. Emphasis is placed on understanding how culture, regional identity, and regulation shape everyday eating experiences. Through analysis of food labels, menus, and market offerings, students will develop practical skills! Tools for navigating Italian food environments while abroad.
