Program Summary
This exchange is open to majors in the College of Business and Economics only. The international business program is preparing its students to operate in today’s global business world. The city of Cologne is Germany’s oldest city and has always been an important commercial center. The TH Köln/Cologne University of Applied Sciences has over 17,000 students at 3 different campuses.
Students may participate in the exchange to TH Köln/Cologne University of Applied Sciences for the academic year or spring or fall semester.
Academics
Students will take courses offered at the TH Köln/Cologne University of Applied Sciences program, such as International Strategic Management, Managerial Economics, International Finance and European Business. A full course load is 30 ECTS credits, typically made up of 5 courses worth 6 ECTS credits (3 UW-W credits) each.

Accommodations
TH Köln/Cologne University of Applied Sciences has no student residences of its own. It is up to visiting students to find accommodation for themselves for the period of their stay in Cologne. Students should start searching for accommodation as soon as possible, as it can be difficult to find an apartment in Cologne.
There are two types of accommodation recommended for international students. The first are rooms that are temporarily sublet by Cologne students who have themselves gone abroad. The second are rooms and apartments in student residences that are rented to students through an organization called Kölner Studentenwerk, which has 86 buildings with 4,600 rooms available. Student Life and Surroundings
Cologne is situated on the river Rhein in North Rhine-Westphalia and is the fourth largest city in Germany with around 1,000,000 inhabitants. Cologne's citizens are very friendly and welcoming people of all types and with all interests. Because of this, the people of Cologne are known to be very patient with non-native German speakers who wish to practice and improve their language skills.
Cologne has a unique character that allows people of many different cultures to come together in one city. There are countless opportunities for students to go out and socialize with friends and locals in the city. There are events occurring on a regular basis and restaurants and bars for every kind of taste. Travel within the city of Cologne is easy with public transport. Students often take advantage of their time off on weekends to travel to surrounding cities and countries, as well as other European destinations.

Passport and Visa Requirements
Students need a passport to study in Germany. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the end of your program. Obtaining a passport can take two to three months. U.S. citizens participating in this program do not need to apply for an entry visa, but must apply for a German residence permit/long-term visa. Visa and residence permit requirements for students of other nationalities may vary.
